Sugar Land, TX – On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the South Texas Chapter of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA-STC) successfully hosted its much-anticipated CME Conference 2024 at the Marriott Sugar Land, drawing a strong turnout of healthcare professionals from across the region.
Running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the conference provided 3 CME credit hours and featured in-depth discussions on four critical topics: Pain Management, Ethical Dilemmas in Medical Ethics, Women’s Health – Menopause, and Human Trafficking.
The event kicked off with Dr. Muska Ullah, Hospitalist in Family Medicine at HCA Healthcare, Pasadena, TX, delivering an insightful session on effective approaches in pain management.
Following her was Dr. Ahsan Rizvi, MD, FACP, Director of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, who engaged the audience with a thought-provoking talk on ethical dilemmas faced by today’s medical professionals.
At 10:30 AM, Dr. Sobia Khan, MD, EdD, from the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Specialized Women’s Health, addressed crucial topics surrounding menopause and women’s health, sparking meaningful dialogue among attendees.
The conference concluded with a powerful presentation on human trafficking and its psychological implications by Dr. Khwaja Tariq, MD, a psychiatrist based in Friendswood and Sugar Land, TX.
The event was coordinated by Dr. M. Ahmad M. Jajja, Director of Transplant at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, and Dr. M. Atif Akhtar, Child Psychiatrist at UTHealth’s McGovern Medical School in Houston. Their efforts ensured a seamless and enriching educational experience for all participants.
