Code of Conduct

 

Purpose
This Code of Conduct provides clear rules and guidelines for fair and transparent elections,
ensuring integrity, impartiality, and ethical behavior by all participants, committee
members, and stakeholders.

1. Scope
This Code applies to:

– Nomination & Election Committee (NEC) members
– Board of Trustees (BOT) members
– Nominees / Candidates

2. Eligibility and Resignation
• All nominees must meet eligibility criteria as defined by APPNA STC bylaws.
• Relatives must resign from any official committee or position that could influence the
election outcome after the nomination period closes.
• NEC and BOT members must remain impartial and refrain from influencing nominations
or voting in favor of any candidate.

3. Impartiality and Conflicts of Interest
• NEC and BOT members must disclose any potential conflict of interest.
• BOT (involved in oversight) must not be involved in conducting the elections or managing
the nomination process during the nomination or election period. They should act only as
observers or oversight bodies, maintaining strict impartiality.

4. Campaigning Guidelines
• Candidates may campaign only after the official nomination period ends.
• Campaigning must be transparent, honest, and respectful.
• Misrepresentation, negative campaigning, or defamation of other candidates is strictly
prohibited.
• Candidates must avoid using organizational resources for campaigning purposes.

5. Confidentiality
• All election-related information, including nominations, ballots, and committee
deliberations, must remain confidential.
• Breaches of confidentiality may result in disqualification or disciplinary action.

6. Voting Procedures
• Voting must be fair, secret, and verifiable.

• Third-party election conducting will be used.
• Election results must be announced transparently by the NEC.
• Any disputes or complaints must be submitted in writing and will be addressed by the
Ethics and Grievances Committee.

7. Compliance and Enforcement
• Any violations of this Code of Conduct will be investigated by the Ethics and Grievances
Committee.
• Consequences for violations may include warnings, disqualification, or removal from the
committee or position.
• All participants are expected to uphold the principles of integrity, fairness, and
transparency.

8. Acknowledgment
All BOT members have acknowledged and approved this Code of Conduct.
